How it works

Shopping with Standard Healthcare is simple. Here is everything you need to know. Some of it is available if you ask.

  1. Your employer picks your plan

They did this last fall. You can change it for two weeks a year.

  2. Pay the cover charge at the door

Every visit. Even if you only came in to look around.

  3. Shop with confidence

Items are priced individually for you and your store. Prices are not shown at the register; ask, and the cashier may tell you, or wait 6 weeks or longer for your Explanation of Groceries.

  4. Check out

Items are consumed at checkout and cannot be returned.

  5. Two convenient checkout lanes

Please use the participating lane. The other cashier bills separately.

  6. Prior authorization for milk

For some items we need to give permission before you buy. Request it here.

  7. Your Explanation of Groceries arrives in six weeks

It shows the shelf price, your plan’s negotiated discount, and the benchmark we calculate. Preview yours.

Why the same bread costs different amounts

Every store negotiates every item with every plan, in private, for a year. Then everyone does it again. So the price of bread depends on your plan, your store, and your branch.

Where your price comes from

Your price for milk is set by an agreement between your plan and the farm. Its terms are confidential. It was agreed before you were hired. You will learn your share of it on your Explanation of Groceries, 6 weeks or longer after you drank the milk.
