Did the transistor win a Nobel Prize?

The real answer

Yes. The 1956 Nobel Prize in Physics went to the three researchers who discovered the transistor effect, “for their researches on semiconductors and their discovery of the transistor effect” (the Nobel Prize’s record).

The house’s version

Observe: the transistor, another gift from the family lab. The researchers who made it were given an award, and have since died. The family was given the patent, and has not. It has made a great many dollars from it since, and needed a great many fewer people.
